This 75,800 square foot modified school prototype consists of six new buildings: cafeteria, storage, arts & resource, two story 12-classroom, two story 16-classroom, and a two story administration/ media building. In addition to the new construction several existing buildings were renovated; these buildings included the pre-kindergarten building and a 16-classroom building. All new construction and renovation occurred during an occupied functioning campus.
A major portion of the original 1950’s school was demolished from the heart of the campus. We designed a temporary on site portable campus in order to keep the school up and running for the duration of the construction. The new campus buildings now connect to both an existing two story classroom building and a pre-kindergarten building.
The project was completed on time, within budget, and was awarded the 2012 “Best K-12 Project” by the Engineering News Record publication. Our work at Lynch Elementary School is one example of eight projects we have performed for the Pinellas County School Board that was designed and constructed with minimal disruptions while supporting a fully occupied school campus
